Tickets for the graduation ceremony will be required and there will be a limit of 8 per graduate. The original announcement was limited to 4 tickets per graduate.
Tickets will be distributed at the Senior Awards Ceremony.
Students will receive all cords, stoles, and/or medals that have not already been distributed or that will not be distributed at the Senior Awards Ceremony. At the Senior Awards Ceremony, students will receive a bag with their 8 guest tickets, face masks for the graduate and guests, paper fans for guests, 4 graduation programs for guests, public health questionnaires for the graduate and their guests, and a flyer detailing graduation portraits.
If you do not plan on attending the graduation ceremony, please email Ms. Nordt at firstname.lastname@example.org. Diplomas will be available for pick-up in the SHS front office on June 21, 2021.
In-person attendance at both graduation practices is MANDATORY to attend the graduation event. Students with conflicts should address these issues with their Assistant Principals as soon as possible.
All graduates must ride the bus from Stafford High School to Hall Stadium. Graduates may begin arriving to the SHS Competition Gym at 7:00am and arrive no later than 7:30am. Graduates should not be wearing their cap and gown when they arrive. They will put on their cap and gown once inside the SHS Competition Gym after they check in. Please leave all personal items, including backpacks and purses, at home or in your vehicle.
Gentlemen should wear slacks, a collared shirt, and a tie. Ladies may wear a dress, skirt and blouse, or slacks and a collared shirt. Shoes should be of a dark color. Students should not wear spiked heels. Only flats or wedges will be allowed. Graduation caps and gowns will be available in the gym for purchase at a cost of $70. Caps and gowns may not be altered in any way and students may only wear school-approved cords, stoles, and/or medals.
Graduates should have their own copy of the “Public Health Questionnaire” which was distributed with their tickets. If a graduate is not yet 18 years of age, this questionnaire must be signed by a parent or guardian.
All graduates must wear a mask while waiting to check-in. Masks must be worn for the duration of the ceremony, except for when their formal portrait is taken after they walk across the stage.
During the ceremony, please follow directions of staff members seated at the end of each row to know when it is time to stand and sit. When it is time for your row to walk across the stage, you will stand and turn to your right. You will follow your row leader to the stage. Please stand on the markers to ensure safe social distance. When your name is called you will be handed your diploma cover and will pause at center stage to have your picture taken with the superintendent, who will be at a safe distance. After the picture, continue across the stage, down the ramp, and stop to take your picture. You will then walk back to your row and your seat, replace your mask, and continue standing until all students who are seated in your row have returned. When all students in your row have returned, please sit when directed to do so by the staff member row leaders.
In order to protect safe social distances, students will not be allowed to throw their caps. At the end of the school song, please follow your staff member row leaders back off of the field and exit the stadium. You should rejoin your family in the parking lot at your vehicle and leave the premises. Graduation tickets will designate whether your family should be seated on the Home side of the stadium (West side) or the Visitor side of the stadium (East side). Due to safety concerns and the pandemic, graduates and guests will not be allowed to loiter outside of the stadium or in parking lots after the ceremony.
Please use appropriate social distance at all times before, during, and after the ceremony. Guests of all ages will have to show a campus graduation ticket before entering the stadium. Guests without a ticket will not be admitted under any circumstances.
Graduation tickets will designate the side of the stadium that you should sit on. Guests are encouraged to social distance themselves on the appropriate side of the stadium.
No programs will be distributed at the gates. Hard copies will be distributed with tickets and an electronic version will be available via scanned QR codes.
All guests, 18 and over, must have a completed “Public Health Questionnaire” that was distributed with tickets.
Any guest under 18 must be included on an adult’s form. If you or any person listed on the form answer “YES” to any of the questions, you may not attend the ceremony. Your signature on the form certifies that you understand that any dishonest answers may have serious public health implications and can endanger others.
Masks for guests will be distributed during ticket pick-up. Masks are required for guests in all seating areas, in the concourse and in restrooms.
Concession stands will be available at the venue.
Out of courtesy to other guests, please refrain from bringing large signs or balloon arrangements that can block the view of those around you into the stadium. Artificial noise-makers, including air horns, are also prohibited.
Live-Streaming Information (NEW)
Additionally, if families miss the live stream, the video will be posted on the SMSD YouTube channel soon after the event.
Audio of Pomp and Circumstance will play. Students will enter the stadium from the South side of the field. Everyone should stand during the playing of Pomp and Circumstance.
Following the playing of the alma mater, as students are exiting the field, guests should begin exiting the stadium. All guests should proceed immediately to their vehicles. Arrangements must be made ahead of time for graduates to meet their families at their vehicles. No loitering will be permitted outside of the stadium or in parking lots.
Graduates needing to ride the bus back to SHS must inform Mr. Garcia at graduation practice and should meet in front of the field house on the South end of the stadium following the ceremony.
Weather Stipulations (NEW)
The ceremony will proceed “rain or shine” as long as there is no lightning in the area. In case of a weather delay, graduates will be relocated to the field house. Families and guests will be asked to seek shelter in their vehicles.
If a postponement is necessary, our first make-up time is June 12th at 8pm. The second make-up time is June 13th at 9am.

If a student wants to bring a guest that does not currently attend SHS, a prom date request form must be completed and returned to the Assistant Principal’s office by May 1 along with a copy of the guest’s current driver’s license OR school ID. All non-SHS guests must present the results of a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours of the event upon arrival at the venue. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets will be on sale in the SHS front office beginning on March 24. Tickets are $75 if purchased prior to April 1 and $95 if purchased after that date. Tickets must be purchased in-person between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The final day to purchase tickets will be April 23. Virtual students will not be marked absent for a missed class for one period to come purchase their tickets. All purchased tickets will be distributed in-person on the morning of May 14 in the SHS Cafeteria.
Prom is a formal event. Attire should match that. Jeans and sagging pants will not be permitted. Suits should be accompanied by a jacket and dresses should not be overly revealing. Anyone deemed by administration to be inappropriately dressed will not be allowed in to the event. If you have questions or concerns about the dress code, please ask an Assistant Principal prior to arriving at the event.
All SHS Protocols will be enforced at prom. All non-SHS guests must present the results of a negative COVID test administered within 72 hours of the event upon arrival at the venue. All attendees will be subject to a temperature check at the door and will be required to complete a health and safety screening form indicating any symptoms they may be experiencing. Students who are subject to school quarantine will not be allowed to attend. Any student who is not able to attend prom due to quarantine or who fails the screening at the door will be eligible for a refund of your ticket price. Attendees will also not be allowed to gather in large groups on the dance floor. While dancing, groups should be limited in size to no more than 4 (four) people and groups should try to distance themselves as much as possible while on the dance floor. Masks must be worn at all times, except when you are eating, drinking or at the formal portrait session. If you are asked multiple times to put your mask on or have to be reminded about practicing safe social distancing, you may be asked to leave the premises and will not be granted a refund.
Arriving / Leaving
All attendees must have a ticket and valid photo ID to enter. No unticketed guests will be allowed to enter the venue to take pictures or see the venue. Once you have entered the building, you may not exit for any reason. Once you leave prom, there will be absolutely no readmittance.
